manners. get them.

so last weekend i bought new stationary-one set with just my name and another set with both my name and justin’s so that we would have enough thank you cards to get us through our engagement and before we determine what/how we want to do our wedding thank-you’s.

just a few minutes ago, i was describing the note card and envelope lining to my manager and coworker (thrilling topic of conversation, i know) and THIS happened:

my coworker proceeded to tell us that she never sent out thank you cards for her wedding last october (which, by the way, i knew because i never received one, my manager has complained that she never received one, and therefore neither has our VP). her rational is that she never wrote down who gave her what (and told me-wait, you are going to write an individual thank you card to each person??), she never kept track of who actually came to the wedding, none of her family or friends would care, and it was “the last place we wanted to spend our money”. she also said that after her friends and family, there were only about 30 people who would care if they received a thank you card and that it was a waste of time at that point to even bother.

i have absolutely no words. it took everything in me not to go to my computer and print out the complete works of emily post and hand it to her.

in my humble opinion, there is absolutely nothing worse than not thanking someone for their generosity.

About

Welcome! Grew up in Missouri, but now call Chicago home. A few of my favorite things are wine, cooking, my amazing friends, family, the boyfriend, and the cat (obviously). I prefer day drinking to staying up until 4am. Manners are a must. I love college sports. I probably watch too much tv (especially the trashy VH1 kind). I hate confrontation. This is a place for all of my randomness. You can reach me at cackipants at gmail dot com.
